L. Saxon Elliott, Psy.D.

L. Saxon Elliott, Psy.D. received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver and completed her residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio. She has been practicing for over 25 years, providing evaluative, psychotherapeutic, and consultative services to adolescents and adults. She has worked with the entire spectrum of psychological disorders and issues throughout her career, both in private practice and in inpatient and outpatient medical facilities.

Dr. Elliott has specialized training and expertise in Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology and has provided consultation/liaison services to medical practitioners representing a range of specializations (e.g., Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Ob-Gyn, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Neurology). Integrating Behavioral Health Psychology with Primary Care, she has collaborated with Primary Care Physicians on a wide variety of health and wellness issues, including diabetes management, weight control, smoking cessation, eating disorders, heart health, stress-related disorders, chronic illness, compliance with medical regimens, and lifestyle health behaviors modification.

Dr. Elliott has particular expertise in conducting psychological screening and clearance of candidates for invasive or high-risk medical interventions (e.g., bariatric surgeries, implantation surgeries, invasive pain management procedures, and long-term narcotics usage). She has served as psychological consultant to a regional multi-disciplinary Pain Management Center and Occupational Medicine Clinics, providing psychological evaluation and treatment of chronic pain patients, as well as rehabilitation and work-hardening services. She has conducted psycho-educational classes and workshops for patient groups and the general public on numerous health-related topics, incorporating her interests in integrative medicine, holistic health/wellness, spirituality, and alternative/complementary medicine.
