"I have contracted
with James Levine & Associates, P.C. since 2001 to provide ongoing
professional development and consultation services concerning mental
health issues, behavior management, autism, early childhood trauma,
psychological evaluations, and clinical support services in two different
school systems. The quality of the services provided cannot be matched.
Systemic change happens when the right supports are put in place.
Since taking a new position at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional
School District (in Cape Cod) I have continued to use JLA. We plan
to increase these services through video-conferencing technology
next year to minimize travel time and maximize cost-effectiveness.
I firmly believe that our professionals and paraprofessionals need
the level of expertise, experience and creativity that JLA has in
order to improve our practice and services for children."

"I
have worked with James Levine & Associates, P.C. for the past
7 years…JLA has proven invaluable in providing consultation
to me at the district level, as well as to our teachers and families.
This support has allowed us to meet the diverse needs of students
with emotional, behavioral, and cognitive disabilities, as well as
students on the autism spectrum ... I have turned to JLA often ...
In tough financial times, districts often look first to reduce consultation
services.
I have resisted eliminating the support from JLA because
I believe that their support has allowed us to improve programming
in-district, thereby reducing the number of students we have needed
to place in out-of-district placements."

"James
Levine & Associates, P.C. had been consulting at my school for
about 5 years before I arrived as principal. As the new administrator
I felt the obligation to evaluate the merits of preexisting outside
consultants.
I quickly discovered what a tremendous asset Dr. Levine
was, and the strong clinical experience that he brought to our students
and staff. Schools need to spend their limited resources wisely and
contracting with JLA has proven to be one of our wisest investments."

"We began utilizing
James Levine & Associates, P.C. in 2005 when we decided that
we were tired of “putting out fires” and wanted to take
a proactive approach to the increasing behavioral and social/emotional
concerns we had with our students ... Last year the Connecticut Department
of Children and Families (DCF) recognized the importance and need
for mental health services for preschool age children by awarding
a grant that we used to add additional consultation service time
... we were also able to obtain stimulus money which we used to increase
our services ... because of these services, at our tri-annual federal
review, we received a 'strength' rating in the area of mental health
services. The federal reviewers were impressed with the development
of our proactive approach to mental health services, resulting in
more positive outcomes for children, families, and staff."

About JLA & Our
Clinicians
School administrators face
a myriad of children’s behavioral, social-emotional and mental
health issues every day. James Levine & Associates, P.C., (JLA)
provides affordable solutions that are highly effective, with a school-wide
as well as individualized student approach to managing challenging
behavior. Our models of behavioral intervention and classroom modifications
lead to improved test scores while reducing drop-out rates, grade
retention and expulsions. This leads to better student performance
and an enhanced learning and social environment for everyone.
Our company provides both on-site
and videoconferencing consultation to school teachers, in-district
behaviorists, counselors, psychologists, and administrators to
deliver on-going support and to insure the integrity and effectiveness
of our models.
Services are individually tailored according to
the needs of each school district.
The JLA models of intervention cover an extensive range
of topics such as:
- Staff training for understanding children's challenging
behaviors.
- Safety concerns and approaches for de-escalating
crisis situations.
- Evidence-based approaches for creating a bullying-free
environment – focused on social skills and character development.
- Ways to help children with trauma, disruptive
behavioral disorders, anxiety and other mood disorders, learning
disabilities, executive functioning deficits, neurological disorders
including ADHD and Tourette’s
Syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders.
- How to develop and maintain successful Positive
Behavior Support Plans.
Our strategies are
effective at helping school districts meet
the standards set by
the Department of Education with regard to special education audits
as well as state and regional accreditation reviews.

Some Supporting
Research:
Students who receive social-emotional support and prevention
services achieve better in school (Greenberg et., 2003; Welsh et
al., 2001; Zins et al., 2004).
Expanded school mental health services in elementary
schools have been found to reduce special education referrals, improve
aspects of the school climate (Bruns et al., 2004) and produce declines
in disciplinary referrals, suspensions, grade retention, and special
education referrals and placement among at-risk students (Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2005b).
School-based mental health programs for elementary
school children experiencing severe emotional and behavioral difficulties
have demonstrated reductions in conduct disordered behavior, attention
deficit/hyperactivity, and depression (Hussey & Guo, 2003). |
